Oils are a necessary and important ingredient in toddler milk as an energy source, providing an essential fatty acid profile to support the normal growth and development of infants. A blend of unsaturated, polyunsaturated and saturated fatty acids is needed to achieve the correct nutritional profile as determined by the Food Standards of Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) and as no single oil is able to meet this standard, therefore a blend of vegetable oils is necessary. Importantly, only essential fatty acids (linoleic and linolenic acid) can be supplied by vegetable oils.
